What is challis?
Challis is a lightweight, soft fabric with a fluid drape. Originally made from wool, it’s now commonly produced from viscose or rayon blends. It’s perfect for garments that move and breathe – a favorite for summer sewing.

Challis is great for:

Sewing tips for challis:
- Use a fine needle (Microtex 60–70)
- Secure the fabric well before cutting
- Use French seams or rolled hems
- Do not stretch while sewing
Care instructions:
- Delicate wash at 30 °C
- Lay flat to dry
- Iron gently while slightly damp
