What is viscose?

Viscose is a semi-synthetic fiber made from natural cellulose, usually wood pulp. It has a smooth, silky feel and a flowing drape, making it ideal for breathable, soft garments. Viscose combines the benefits of natural raw materials with modern fabric technology.

Characteristics of viscose:

• Soft, smooth, and cool to the touch
• Beautiful drape, ideal for loose garments
• Breathable and skin-friendly
• Wrinkle-prone and typically non-stretch
• May shrink slightly during washing

Viscose fabrics are suitable for:

• Blouses, tunics, dresses, and skirts
• Light summer pants and jumpsuits
• Scarves and soft accessories
• Patterns with a fluid, relaxed silhouette

Sewing tips for viscose:

• Prewash the fabric before cutting
• Use a Microtex needle (size 60–70)
• Stabilize the fabric well, it can shift easily
• French seams or fine edge finishes recommended
• Iron carefully, preferably on the wrong side

Care instructions:

• Gentle cycle at 30 °C
• Air-dry instead of tumble drying
• Iron while damp, using low heat
